THE CLARA LIONEL FOUNDATION

(NOT JUST ANOTHER FOUNDATION)

We support and fund climate resilience and climate justice projects while advocating for systems change in the U.S. and Caribbean.

We tailor our approach to address the unique needs of the communities in which we work.

We tackle issues through local innovative projects and connection with frontline communities, advocacy groups, decision makers, and philanthropists.

A HISTORY OF GIVING

The Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) was founded in 2012 by Robyn “Rihanna” Fenty in honor of her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Braithwaite. CLF supports and funds climate resilience and climate justice projects in the U.S. and Caribbean.

CLIMATE RESILIENCE

CLF’s Climate Resilience Initiative is focused on investing in multiple dimensions of emergency preparedness and scaling solutions to the problems of climate change across the Caribbean.

CLIMATE JUSTICE

CLF is funding BIPOC-led organizations fighting for climate justice in the U.S. and Caribbean. CLF’s Climate Justice grants support collective action to fight for systems and policy change that will build a more equitable future for all.

Legacy

Under the Legacy Pillar, Barbados remains central to CLF’s work - from climate resilience work with local schools and health clinics, a scholarship program, and an ongoing partnership with their very first partner in 2012 - the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
